msj girls who code

On November 12, we presented at our local high school's Girls Who Code meeting where we introduced girls to robotics and FIRST. We presented on the basic mechanisms we use in FTC, what software is used for the robot, and answered their questions about robotics.

fall art for all collab

On November 9, we held an outreach event at Fremont Main Library in collaboration with the nonprofit Art For All. We had various stations where visitors could drive our robot, use our airplane launcher, see our posters, and do arts and crafts.

msj best buddies

On October 16, we visited the MSJHS Best Buddies chapter to share about robotics and the FIRST program. We demonstrated our custom airplane launchers, explained the mechanisms behind them, and led a fun paper-airplane-launching activity.

fcsn outreach event

On September 29, we presented our robot to children at the Foundation for Children with Special Needs (FCSN), introducing them to robotics and guiding them through a hands-on driving activity that let them experience STEM concepts firsthand.

mentorship

On September 7, we hosted a newly established FTC team at our team garage, introducing them to the fundamentals of FTC and sharing insights on competition strategy, outreach, and team organization through an engaging Q&A session.

2024

thanksgiving / fall event

On Wednesday November 27, we hosted an outreach event at our local library where kids could explore different mechanisms we've built and try to drive our turkey robot to win prizes.

girls who code

We presented at our local high school's Girls Who Code meeting where we introduced girls to robotics and FIRST. We presented on the basic mechanisms we use in FTC and answered their questions about getting involved in robotics.

NASA outreach

We organized an event with one of our coaches, and we were able to see technology at NASA Ames Research Center. We were able to learn about what kind of work they do and present our robot to NASA engineers. We explored wind tunnels and various types of flight simulations and also learned about the applications of robotics in their work.

2023

halloween event

We organized an event to introduce young kids to robotics in our community. We had multiple stations where they were able to drive our robot, learn about different parts, make airplanes, use our airplane launcher, and get candy. We had several children and families come to check it out.

mentored FLL team

We mentored a local FLL team called Robo Warriors through their first year. We guided them through the design process and met with them biweekly to mentor them in the basics of robotics. We also accompanied them to their first ever FLL competition.

projectCSgirls hackathon

We presented at a ProjectCSGirls Fremont hackathon where we inspired girls from our area to pursue computer science and engineering.

2022

bay area science festival

We had a booth at the Bay Area Science Festival in San Francisco. We introduced young kids and their parents to FIRST and conducted sign ups to form an FLL team. We had our dancing robot perform and had kids drive it through a maze to win prizes

2019

children's innovation center workshop

This three-day robotics workshop was held for girls only, with about 20 participants. We had the girls build a robot to pick up objects on a playing field and set it up similar to how an FTC competition would operate. We taught the participants how to build and code robots.

bay area science festival

This event had many other booths in addition to ours. For our outreach, we built a dancing robot and many people stopped by to watch it perform. We also taught children how to program the robot to move its "arms" and turn.
